Gaz de France to buy 65 bcm of Azerbaijani gas from Shah Deniz Phase 2
French Gaz de France will buy a total of 65 bcm of Azerbaijani gas extracted from the Shah Deniz Phase 2, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Natig Aliyev said.
Last Friday Aliyev met with French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Aurelia Bouchez, reported Ministry.
Minister said at the meeting that French companies are actively represented in the Azerbaijani oil and gas industry. In particular, Total company has a 5% share in the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline, 10% in the Southern Caucasian Gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum) and Total and Gas de France are partners of the project for the Absheron field development.
Aliyev added that Azerbaijan has concluded contracts to sell gas from the Shah Deniz Phase 2 with nine companies. Gaz de France will be among the biggest buyers and purchase 65 bcm of Azerbaijani gas.
French Ambassador has mentioned interest of French companies in the Azerbaijani energy sector. In particular, Air Liquide and Axens companies also take part in the projects in Azerrbaijan.
She said at present France tries to determine new directions of cooperation in the energy field with Azerbaijan. French specialists plan to visit Azerbaijani to do research in this area.—0—
