One more airline can be closed in Azerbaijan
The airline "Turan Air" suspended all its scheduled flights. The company which has been functioning since 1994, has almost left passenger transportation market , but officially this is not reported.
In July 2006 the airline joined a group of companies "SW Holding", and owned several aircraft fleet type "Tu-154". Until recently, the airline performed flights from Baku to Kazan and Yekaterinburg, from Lankaran to Surgut. According to the holding, flights have been suspended due to low passenger traffic.
In 2009 was eliminated first private airline "IMAIR" ( included in the group of companies "Improtex Group".)
Today at the local market of air transportation remain the state CJSC "Azerbaijan Airlines" and "Silk Way Business Avioation". The latter with six aircrafts (Gulfstream - 550 , Gulfstream - 450 , Gulfstream - 200 , Gulfstream - 280 , Boeing- 727- 200 and ATR - 42 - 500) , carries only commercial flights (approximately 200 passengers per month), and provides reports an unprofitable activity . Nevertheless , "Silk Way Business Aviation" plans to purchase another Gulfstream - 650. --08B-
