Opened a new ferry terminal in Baku trade port
September 2 was the opening of the new ferry terminal complex Baku International Sea Trade Port.
The opening ceremony was attended by President Ilham Aliyev, who started the operation of the terminal.
Note that the new commercial port of Baku is situated approximately 25 km south of the capital (near Mill of Deepwater Jackets). As construction here will be transferred to the port infrastructure of the Baku Bay. Construction of a new port is carried out Dutch experts.
The terminal is able to handle today 50,000 containers and 12 million tons of cargo per year, with a subsequent increase of handling up to 1 million containers or 25 million tons of cargo per year.
The project, which includes three stages of development, it is envisaged the construction of two ferry and eight cargo berths for receiving containers, vessels of "ro-ro" and universal dry-cargo ships with a displacement of up to 13 500 tons and 14 terminals.
The new port is preparing to accept shipments, the following railway Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which will go into operation in the new year.
It is expected that during the beginning of the overall growth of the global economy in 2018, transshipment via this route will increase to 20 million. Tons and passenger traffic will grow to 3 million persons per year. The same period is planned to complete construction of the port.
Port project produced by Dutch company Royal Haskoning. Construction contractor is JSC Azerkorpu.
The project cost of the port amounted to 870 million manat .. or $ 1.1 billion. -0--
