Passenger carriages by metro does not reach the indices of 2009
In the first half of 2013, the revenues of the Baku Metro on passenger carriages accounted for 21,715,200 manat, by 4.8% more than in the same period last year; passenger carriages by metro increased only by 4.4%.
According to the State Statistics Committee (SSC), over first six months of the year, the cost for metro increased by +24.1% , and amounted to 57 844.800 manat.
According to the Metro Office, in January-June of the current year the Baku Metro transported 104.2 million passengers.
Over first eight months of this year 133.8 million passengers used metro, by 7.1 million or 5.6 % more than in the comparable period of 2012.
After the increase of fares in metro in October 2009, from five to 15 gepik, subway management began to report drop of passenger flow. Thus, according to official data, in 2010 passenger flow in metro fell by 12.2%. If in 2009 it totaled 17,175,000 people a month, in 2012- 16.300,000 million, and in 2013 - 16,731,000.
In 2008-2013 state budget allocated from the state budget of 1.2 billion, including AZN 390 million in 2013 for the construction of new stations and the reconstruction of hallways and escalators and other facilities of Baku Metro. Over these three new stations have been put into operation. Total of 23 stations serve passengers. It is planned to put two more stations into operation in early 2014. --08B--

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
