Private Schools Account for 0.6% of Pupils
Baku / 20.09.16 / Turan: The State Statistics Committee published a report on secondary schools, according to which, three new private schools opened at the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year.
By the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year there were 23 private schools, 20 of which provide complete secondary education. These schools have 8,348 students. Compared with the previous 2015-2016 school year, the number of students rose by 1,840 people.
1,070 teachers work in private schools. According to the SSC, 0.6% of pupils account for private schools.
By the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year there were 4,462 schools in Azerbaijan. For the year 13 schools closed, including 3 primary schools, 4 secondary schools and 6 full schools.
The Azerbaijani schools give education to 1 million 353.3 thousand children. The upbringing and education of students involves 158.1 thousand teachers. During the year, about 2,600 teachers lost their jobs. Compared to the 2015-2016 school year, the number of teachers in Azerbaijan has reduced by 13,528 people. ----08B
