Syrian Hackers Attack New York Times from Russia
The work of the site of the New York Times was interrupted for three hours because of a hacker attack, local media reported.
"The domain NYTimes.com indicates the portal SyrianElectronicArmy.com, whose IP-address is registered in Russia, so it's definitely a malicious attack," said the security officer of online Tripwire Ken Westin.
Thus, U.S. experts believe that the attack was committed by a group of hackers who call themselves the "Syrian Electronic Army" and support the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Site work was interrupted Tuesday 15:00 local time (23:00 GMT), but three hours later it began to function again, but users continued to report some irregularities.
In recent years, this is the second case of a failure of the site, "New York Times". Aug. 14 online edition of employees reported technical malfunctions on his page on the micro-blog, "Twitter", but did not explain is why the problem occurred.
In addition, on August 15 sites were subjected to attacks by hackers, the newspaper "Washington Post", the TV channel CNN, NBC and the magazine "Time". - 17D-
