The Court of Appeal will hear Y. Jafarli Appeal Against the Military Prosecutor
The head of the Association of Officers in Reserve and Retired, Yashar Jafarli, accused law enforcement and judiciary agencies for the violation of his rights.
At today's press conference, he said that law enforcement agencies are investigating the attack on him.
On April 2, of this year, at about 21:00, two persons attacked Jafarli near his home. With the help of neighbors Jafarli managed to detain and hand over one of them police. The second attacker escaped.
According to Jafarli, the people who attacked him were employees of the Intelligence Department of the Defense Ministry. The detainee’s name is Elkhan Huseynov. Another intelligence officer was in viewe of a surveillance camera. Jafarli stated that the man continues to watch over him and his family.
Jafarli believes that the attack on him was authorized by the Ministry of Defense.
Avaz Temirkhan, the lawyer of Jafarli, stated the unfair investigation of this case at the Baku Military Prosecutor's Office. Therefore, Huseynov who was arrested was released. Moreover, the prosecutor's office did not investigate his confession to the police, and that he had a knife.
In addition, the prosecution did not investigate the shooting or camera surveillance, and did not establish the identity of the second assailant. The investigator also ignored the testimony of five witnesses, who say that there were two attackers.
Baku Military Court has wrongfully refused to file a lawsuit because of the attack on Jafarli.
The decision of the Court will be considered in the Baku Court of Appeal on August 29, the lawyer said.—05С06-
