TeliaSonera" Interested in Cooperation with Azerbaijan
The Swedish company TeliaSonera will develop broadband internet services in Azerbaijan. The owner of the shares of the local mobile operator Azercell hopes to create an effective system of local infrastructure in the telecommunications sector.
Speaking at a meeting on 30 August, the Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov president and chief executive officer of TeliaSonera Lars Nyberg, an important issue in the context of the development of broadband services is considered as the use of wireless and optical networks.
Approximately 90% of the total network traffic TeliaSonera is signaling and data, and this segment is on the rise, and it is not confined to the local, but also all controlled by markets (the organization has assets of mobile operators in the CIS).
Nyberg said the stability of fixed networks in Azerbaijan and expressed hope that the prevalence of this mobile network as a promising market segment. The modern development of the telecommunications infrastructure is important for a country with an ever growing economy, said Swedish businessman.
The company owns three-quarters (74%) of the shares of the holding Fintur Holdings B.V., having a share in a local company Azercell. - 17D-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
