The car park has increased by 8.5%
As of January 1, 2014 Azerbaijan registered 1,232,678 units of vehicles, which is 96,742 units or 8.5 % more than at the beginning of last year, the State Committee of Statistics said.
The share of passenger cars in the car park is 85%. During the year the number increased 90,200 and reached 1,048,800 units.
Approximately 60 % of the cars (736,500) are concentrated in the city of Baku.
In the State Statistics Committee they noted that the separation of vehicle on brands will be prepared by the summer. As of January 1, 2013, the fastest growing brand of cars was Mercedes. In 2012, the country imported 23,700 new and used cars Mercedes. In 2008-2012, the number of Mercedes in Azerbaijan rose by 61,400.
"Folk" can be called Korean cars. If in 2008 the number of cars of Hyundai and KIA was 19 500 and 4900, at the beginning of 2013 these figures increased respectively to 44 400, and 19 300.
Increasing the number of users is for relatively expensive cars. If in 2011, Lexus was driven by 5 002 fans of this brand, then the next year, it added another 1 069 people. For five years, the number of brands on the roads of Azerbaijan increased 3.7 times.
But different models of VAZ cars gradually "go off the distance." If in 2011 there were 395,600 VAZ cars, while in 2012 this figure had fallen to 391,800. This is also caused by the high number of accidents on the roads.
During 2012, the number of German cars BMW, Opel, Mercedes, Wolkswagen and Audi increased from 180,600 to 218,000. - 08B -
