Baku and London discuss issues on cooperation on "green" energy
Baku/31.05.23/Turan: On Tuesday, Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov held a meeting with the British Prime Minister's trade envoy to Azerbaijan, Baroness Emma Nicholson.
"During the meeting, the sides discussed the development of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the joint intergovernmental commission and in the field of transition to clean energy. The importance of intensive dialogue in the fields of "green energy" and energy efficiency and the intensification of activities on specific projects was noted. The prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom on financing green energy were considered," the press service of the ministry said.
In addition, Shahbazov took part in the "Baku connect" event held jointly with the Energy Industry Council to raise awareness of economic opportunities in the energy sector in Azerbaijan.
"In his speech, the Minister pointed to close cooperation with the UK in globally significant energy projects and said that British companies have invested $34 billion in Azerbaijan over the years. Currently, the development of successful relations between the two countries in the hydrocarbon sector is conducted in the direction of energy transfer and the use of renewable energy sources," the information says.
In this regard, Shahbazov touched upon the implementation of a solar energy project with BP in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation.
The event, in which more than 50 companies were represented, continued with discussions in the framework of three sessions: "Overview of the Azerbaijani energy market and project opportunities", "Business in Azerbaijan" and "How Azerbaijan accepts the energy transition". –0--
