Government tightens regulation of water resources

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on April 14 to implement amendments to the laws “On Road Traffic” and “On Automobile Roads,” aimed at clarifying the regulation of vehicle towing, storage tariffs, and expanding the powers of state authorities.

Following the end of the Second Karabakh War in 2020, one of the most serious humanitarian challenges facing Azerbaijan remains the threat posed by landmines. An incident on April 14 in the village of Ashaghy Abdurrahmanly in the Fuzuli district, which resulted in the death of ANAMA (Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action) employee Mugan Matili, once again underscored the urgency of this issue.

In January–March 2026, retail trade networks in Azerbaijan sold goods to consumers totaling 15 billion 927.3 million manats, including 8 billion 774.9 million manats in food products, beverages and tobacco, and 7 billion 152.4 million manats in non-food goods.
