Armenians Demand Turkey Return Armenian Church Property
Yerevan / 12.05.15 / Turan-ArmInfo: Armenian Catholicos Garegin II is preparing a lawsuit against Turkey with the requirement to return the church property confiscated in 1915.
In an interview with the Voice of America, he said that all the archival documents, the territory of the estate and the property that belonged to Armenians are currently being explored.
"We study the documents and an appropriate document will be made with a legal justification to bring a claim against the Turkish authorities and the Turkish courts. This process requires sufficient effort and hard work," said Garegin.
Earlier, Catholicos of Cilicia filed a similar lawsuit in the Constitutional Court of Turkey, demanding return of the residence in Sis.
According to Armenian sources, this includes many estates, land and other property that once belonged to the Armenians in the Ottoman Empire. -02D-
