The first round of talks between Ukraine and Russia took place
Baku/28.02.22/Turan: The first round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia is over - the parties are returning to their capitals, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said
"Ukrainian and Russian delegations held the first round of talks today.
Their goal was a ceasefire on the territory of Ukraine and hostilities.
The parties have identified a number of priority topics on which certain solutions have been outlined," Podolyak is quoted by Ukrayinska Pravda.
He added that now the parties are returning to their capitals for consultations.
Podolyaka also added that the parties discussed the possibility of holding a second round of negotiations in the near future.
The same information was voiced by Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinsky.
"Negotiations, which lasted about 5 hours, ended. During this time, we went through all the items on the agenda in detail, found some points on which we can predict common positions. And most importantly, we agreed to continue the negotiation process," Medinsky said.
The next meeting, he said, will take place in the coming days on the Polish-Belarusian border.
Until then, the leadership of the delegations should consult on all negotiating positions with the leadership of the country. -06B-
