The World Bank will allocate $1.78 billion to Turkey
Anadolu: The World Bank has announced that it will provide Turkey with 1 billion 780 million dollars.
"A rapid damage assessment has begun to assess the scale of the disaster and identify priority areas for recovery and reconstruction," the bank said in a statement.
The statement notes that $1 billion 780 million will be allocated to help with rescue and recovery work after the devastating earthquakes and aftershocks that led to large human casualties, injuries and very significant damage in the south-east of Turkey.
The head of the World Bank, David Malpass, said that "the World Bank announced today the allocation of $1.78 billion to provide assistance and recovery after the devastating earthquakes and aftershocks in Turkey, which led to mass deaths, injuries and very significant destruction in and around the southeastern part of Turkey."
He added that "the World Bank has also launched an accelerated damage assessment to determine the extent of the disaster and identify priority areas to support recovery, drawing on its extensive international experience in disaster risk management."--0--
