Erdoğan wanted to turn "steering" towards Putin when it was not possible to hold a meeting of Merkel-Macron-Putin-Erdoğan proposed by the Turkish president to discuss problems in the region, especially the Syrian issue: “At worst, we will be able to have a meeting with Putin on March 5, as we have previously determined. We can go beyond our telephone conversations and communicate face to face.”
Earlier we drew the attention: After the deterioration of the condition in Idlib, it seems as if the Russian Federation applies the methods of the cold war against Turkey. For example, before the Kremlin, Ambassador to Ankara, Alexei Yerkhov, made statements on social media about the Idlib case. That is to say, disrespect is expressed in this way.
Response to President Erdoğan’s initiative “meeting with Putin” came from the Kremlin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, a few days ago. Again in a disrespectful manner: “No such meeting is scheduled for March 5 in Putin’s business plan. The president has other plans on March 5.”
In this case, a very simple question arises: Who is managing the state protocol of Turkey? If we start with the question then let us ask the second question: What is the purpose of the diplomatic missions of the countries? Mr. Erdoğan initially offered a four-party meeting on March 5, then, since he was not fully convinced that the meeting would take place, he proposed the issue of “meeting with Putin at worst” for the agenda. The Kremlin has denied that for now. So what are the purposes of the Office of the President of the Turkish Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country? They are preparing these meetings behind the scenes, and if there is no such arrangement, why does Erdoğan make unspecified statements about a 4-party meeting and a meeting with Putin? After all, the hand of the Russian state is clearly strengthening here. How can a person like Erdoğan, who has gained great experience during his 17-year-long single-handed rule, not see it? If not, if he sees the situation and tries to make things happen by pushing the limits, is there not anyone who can tell him that this will have counterproductive consequences for Turkey? And finally: Why does the Kremlin keep Mr. Erdoğan at a distance, who was able to meet with Vladimir Putin within two or three days beforehand?
The Kremlin explains the reason by itself: As relations between Moscow and Ankara worsened due to the Idlib issue, nothing can be more natural than that Vladimir Putin keeps Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at a distance. Despite Erdoğan’s insistence to appoint a meeting on March 5 by putting diplomatic rules aside, the reason for the Kremlin’s not taking a positive approach to this is also Idlib: In a face-to-face meeting that Erdoğan wishes, Putin wants to end Idlib issue completely, while Erdoğan tries to avoid this demand. That is why the Kremlin regularly says “no” to Mr. Erdoğan’s “irregular game” for the meeting on March 5. Also with a contemptuous attitude by saying “there are other things in the president's program on March 5”...
In other words, until the writing was written (15.00/27.02.20), Ankara, which has fallen behind militarily in the Idlib area, cannot produce anything from president Erdoğan’s “insistence to meet with Putin on March 5”.
But we must not forget the words “24 hours have also great importance in politics”.
