A shelter for those in need of social assistance has been opened in Khankendi
Baku/12.10.23/Turan: The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan has created a shelter in Khankendi for persons from vulnerable groups of the population.
According to the Ministry of Labor, the shelter for 30 beds is equipped with a three-story building.
Three hot meals a day are provided to residents of the shelter, which has been functioning since October 10.
Currently, six people are accommodated in the shelter.
Another one was sent for treatment. In total, 11 people have already used the shelter's services. Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross visit the shelter several times during the day, get acquainted with the conditions, are interested in food provision, social services provided. ---06B---

On November 15, animal rights activist Kamran Mammadli was detained while staging a protest at the COP29 climate conference. Mammadli was protesting the shooting of street dogs in Azerbaijan. He raised a sign above his head that read: "Azerbaijani authorities are shooting dogs on the streets!" He also shouted: "Resign those who teach youth to be sycophants under the guise of volunteerism!"
