Abdurrahman Vezirov died in Moscow
Baku/10.01.22 uran: Former first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan Abdurrahman Vezirov died on January 10 in Moscow at the age of 91, reported his relatives. According to the same sources, he will be buried in Moscow.
Vezirov served as the head of Azerbaijan during the critical period 988-89, the period of aggravation of the Karabakh conflict and the beginning of the national movement in Azerbaijan. He is considered guilty of blind obedience to Moscow and the loss of control over the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. All this caused political crisis in Azerbaijan and the fall of the communist regime prevented the entry of Soviet troops into Baku, which led to mass deaths of civilians and repressions against activists of the national liberation movement.
The main culprit of the incident is considered Vezirov, against whom a criminal case was initiated. Since January 1990, he has lived in Moscow. -02B-

On November 26, the Baku Court of Appeals reviewed the appeal of human rights defender Anar Mammadli, who contested the extension of his detention. Arrested economist Fazil Gasimov has reportedly faced pressure after protesting the interruption of a phone call with his family on November 16. "The phone call was cut off, and Fazil demanded that the connection be restored. Then, Jalal Alizadeh, a detention center officer, along with his colleagues, forcibly removed Fazil from the phone room in the medical unit of the facility, tearing his jacket and dragging him across the floor before throwing him into a cell.
