Actions in support of Karabakh in Iranian Azerbaijan
Baku / 19.10.20 / Turan: Rallies are held in support of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, who are fighting with Armenia for the liberation of Karabakh in the Iranian (South) Azerbaijan and other regions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, where the Turks live.
On Sunday evening, a large rally took place in Tabriz and continued into the night, despite heavy police pressure. The participants demanded the closure of the Nurduz checkpoint between Iran and Armenia due to the supply of weapons to Yerevan through Iran.
According to social networks, the protesters chanted slogans: “Karabakh is ours, and it will be ours!”, “Protecting Armenia is a crime!”, “Tabriz, Baku, and Ankara - long live Turan!” etc.
According to the Azerbaijani service "Voice of America", on October 17-18, many activists who called for actions in support of Karabakh were taken into custody by the Iranian security forces. Some citizens were detained during the rallies.
