Aliyev and Zarif believe that Azerbaijan-Iran relations are at the highest level
Baku/25.05.21/Turan: "We will widely discuss the development of our relations in a positive way, the development of bilateral ties. I looked at the data before your visit and saw that we have an increase in trade turnover. Despite the pandemic, this is very positive."
This was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
Aliyev noted that at present, relations between the two countries are probably at the highest level in the history of cooperation.
"Of course, there are new opportunities, new challenges associated with the emergence of a new situation in the region - post-conflict, and, of course, Iran and Azerbaijan, as two fraternal countries, should coordinate efforts, contribute to long-term and sustainable peaceful development in the region for the benefit of all countries in the region. I am sure that the Iranian government shares this approach, " the head of state said.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that Iran is experiencing better times in relations with Azerbaijan.
"We are very pleased that during the period of our coming to an end in power, we have left for the future administration in Iran excellent relations with the fraternal country - Azerbaijan.
We believe that you played a historic role in the liberation of the Azerbaijani lands, and we congratulate you. Now you can play a historic role in bringing peace to the region, and we want to thank you for expressing your desire to achieve peace with Armenia. This is very important, and we in Iran are ready to play any role in achieving this, as well as in the restoration and reconstruction of the liberated territories," Zarif said. -0-
