Baku/10.07.23/Turan: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev called Shavkat Mirziyoyev today, congratulating him on the occasion of his re-election as President of Uzbekistan.
Aliyev expressed confidence that under the leadership of Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan will continue the comprehensive development in the coming years, the website of the head of Azerbaijan reports.

During the telephone conversation, the Presidents stressed the successful development of friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries in various fields, emphasized the importance of mutual visits and contacts between the heads of state and at other levels.

Early presidential elections were held in Uzbekistan on Sunday.
Current President Mirziyoyev was re-elected to the post of the head of state. 87.05% of the voting participants voted for him. Voter turnout was 79.8%.
According to a number of observers, the electoral event was held without the participation of the real opposition, none of the admitted candidates criticized Mirziyoyev's program.
