Ambassadors of France and Germany called on the youth of Azerbaijan and Armenia to contribute to the reconciliation of the two peoples
Baku/03.06.22/Turan: Ten representatives of Azerbaijani youth will visit Strasbourg on June 6-10, where they will meet with peers from France, Germany and Armenia. The meeting will be held under the program: "New areas of cooperation in the framework of the Eastern Partnership of the European Union" organization OFAJ (Office of Franco-German Youth).
French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Zachary Gross said at today's ceremony that OFAJ seeks to promote the process of reconciliation between Armenians and Azerbaijanis in the context of negotiations supported by France, Germany and the EU.
“This initiative was discussed and agreed upon at a meeting of leaders at the end of last year in Brussels. The joint initiative of Germany and France is being implemented within the Eastern Partnership, Gross said.
The diplomat noted that the reconciliation that was achieved after the Second World War between Germany and France is possible between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and he believes in it.
“Such a meeting will be held in Strasbourg for the first time. We are very pleased that the younger generation expresses support for peace in the region. It's time to build the world. I know this is not easy, but it is very important,” the ambassador continued.
Drawing attention to the fact that infrastructure is being built in Zangilan, Aghdam and other liberated territories, reconstruction is underway, Gross noted: "no one wants these territories to be attacked again in the future, so that a conflict will arise again."
“Peace is important for this. The European Union maintains peace and stability in this region and is ready to contribute to this process,” Gross said.
In turn, German Ambassador Wolfgang Manig noted the support for this process from the French and German Foreign Ministries. “The conflicts between Germany and France continued for hundreds of years, but they achieved peace in their region. Our colleagues in Yerevan are holding a meeting with the Armenian youth, with whom you will communicate,” the ambassador said, addressing the participants of the program.
He noted that young people from the two countries will discuss a common future. “Our region will be a source of inspiration for young people. It's difficult, but we've started the process. I am convinced that you will also use the experience of the peoples of France and Germany. The achievements of our countries show that reconciliation and peace are possible. I hope that such a future is also possible in this region,” the German ambassador emphasized.—06B-
