Another Congressman Calls for Release of Khadija Ismayilova
Member of the US House of Representatives, the head of the Subcommittee on Europe and Eurasia Dana Rohrabacher denounced the pressure on Radio Azadlig.
In his statement, he said: "Azerbaijan is certainly a valuable ally of the US in this important part of the world. However, recent government actions against Radio Azadlig do not contribute to the strengthening of these relations.
The arrest of the investigative journalist Khadija Ismayilova and after that the search in the office of Radio Azadlig are the last steps of the government to restrict freedom of the media and public opinion," said the Congressman.
He expressed a hope that there would be a hearing on US-Azerbaijani relations, which will help identify areas of cooperation on issues of concern.
Rohrabacher also called for the release of Ismayilova. This would be a step in the right direction and a sign of positive intentions of Azerbaijan, the report said.
Recall that several US Congressmen also called for the liberation of Ismayilova before. -16D-
