Approaches to conflict resolution focus of OSCE Security Day
One of the OSCE's key tasks - conflict resolution - is the focus of the OSCE Security Day to be held at the Hofburg Congress Centre in Vienna on Monday, 16 September, says the OSCE Website.
Ambassador Ihor Prokopchuk of Ukraine, Chairperson of the OSCE Permanent Council, and Lamberto Zannier, Secretary General of the OSCE, will open the meeting. Dr. I. William Zartman, Professor Emeritus at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University, will deliver a keynote speech.
This event is the fourth OSCE Security Day held this year. It will bring together experts from a range of different countries and specializations to look at OSCE's toolbox on conflict resolution and explore new ideas on how the OSCE can better contribute to bringing about sustainable solutions to conflicts in its region. The event will look in particular at the role of regional and multilateral organizations and ways to sustain and consolidate peace in the aftermath of violent conflict.
Media representatives are invited to attend the opening and first sessions of the event on Monday, 16 September 2013, from 9:00 to 11:15 in the Neuer Saal of the Hofburg Congress Centre.-0-
