Arif Mammadov: "The authorities are trying to limit my movement"
Baku / 29.06.17 / Turan: Ex-diplomat Arif Mammadov commented on his announcement by the police Baku. On his Facebook page, he wrote that there was no reason to worry. "They decided to limit my ability to move. They want me not to go out of Europe. Hint at not appearing in the Caucasus. Apparently they were frightened by our plans to hold the next AND meeting in Georgia," he said. In the years 2000-2006 Mammadov led the representation of Azerbaijan to the EU in Brussels, and 2007-2012 - Permanent Mission to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. Since 2013, he was a representative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the EU.
The criminal prosecution of Mamedov began after he criticized officials for the fire in May 2015 in Binagadi district of Baku, which killed 15 people. Remaining in Europe, Mammadov took part in the formation of the public structure AND - (Democracy in the name of Azerbaijan - Azərbaycan Naminə Demokratiya), which united a large group of political emigrants from Azerbaijan. -D06-
