Armenia Agrees to Take Part in the European Games in Baku
Baku / 06.11.14 / Turan-ArmInfo: Armenia will participate in the European Games in Baku in 2015. As reported by The Washington Times, this was said by the head of the European Olympic Committee Patrick Hickey in Bangkok.
The head of EOC informed that the matter has been resolved in the course of his visit to Armenia in October this year at a meeting with President Serzh Sargsyan.
"All the problems have been resolved, and they agreed to take part in the Games next year," said Hickey.
Earlier, the Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov said that the authorities will provide security guarantees to the Armenian athletes if they decide to come to Baku.
The European Games will be held from 12 to 28 June 2015. A total of 20 sports will be performed: 16 Olympic sports and 4 non-Olympic sports.
More than six thousand athletes from all over Europe will represent their countries for 17 days of the competition. Eleven sports will be offered as qualifying events for the Olympic Games Rio 2016. -0-
