Armenia and Azerbaijan prepare exchange of prisoners - Lavrov
Baku / 02.10.19 / Turan: The political process to resolve the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh is inhibited, until it succeeds in moving in this direction, announced on Wednesday the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, speaking at the 16th annual meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club.
"As for Nagorno-Karabakh, the situation on the contact line has been quite calm lately, there are few incidents and they are not very large. An exchange of bodies of the dead took place, an exchange of detainees is being prepared," Tass quoted Lavrov.
According to him, the situation in the conflict zone "is now calmer than a year ago, but the political process is inhibited, and so far it"s not possible to get rid of this brake," Lavrov said.
"There are contacts, but the dialogue on the settlement has not yet been resumed. But I don"t see any such obvious danger of resuming some major actions," Lavrov concluded, emphasizing that Russia will do everything possible to prevent this from happening.
It should be noted that the retained persons in Armenia are only two natives of Kalbajar - Dilgam Askerov and Shahbaz Guliyev, whom the Armenian side categorically refuses to exchange for the Armenian military in Azerbaijan. -02D-
