Arrested youth activists visited by rights activist Elchin Behbudov
The head of Azerbaijan Committee against Torture Elchin Behbudov January 6 conducted monitoring in the Quarantine Detention Section in the administrative entities in the Binagadi district of Baku and met with six young activists held there. They were arrested for taking part in a protest at Fountain Square in Baku on December 29.
According to Behbudov's story told to Turan, the young people complained about the same food given to them every day - burgers, pasta and lentil soup.
According to the human rights activist, the heads of the jail motivated this with the fact that this question does not depend on them as the food is delivered in a centralized manner.
In addition, according to Behbudov, the arrested also complained about handcuffs put on them.
The leadership of the prison stated that the young people do not obey the lawful demands of the administration and therefore they were handcuffed for 2 hours.
In addition to being arrested for 18 days, Orkhan Eyubzade also said that during the arrest the Sabail district police officers used force against him.
On all these issues Behbudov intends to apply to the MIA.
As for the health of the young people, then, according to the human rights activist, Samir Poladov complained of heart aches.
"We have raised this issue. We were told that at the request of the young man they called ambulance for him several times." On January 5 , he was taken under police escort to the survey into the urban clinical center. From the words of the facility administration the young man was made an electrocardiogram, but no heart problems were detected. I emphasize that this information was told by the superiors of the jail," said Behbudov.
Earlier, the young people also complained about the cold chambers and lack of water.
However, according to Behbudov, currently such problems are not reported .
Moreover, during the visit of the human rights activist all the six young men were placed in the same cell, which they had previously required.
Recall that the protest was held on December 29 in connection with the bureaucratic arbitrariness that made the disabled at the Karabakh war Zaur Hasanov commit suicide.
For participation in this action the Sabail District Court of Baku sentenced an activist of the Musavat party Orkhan Eyubzade to 18 days of administrative imprisonment. A member of the same party Tural Sadigli was sentenced to 17 days. To 16 days in jail were convicted an activist of Musavat Javid Hajibayli and a member of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA ) Orkhan Jarchy. Another PFPA activist Turkel Alisoy and a nonpartisan Samir Poladov were arrested for 15 days. Another 16 people were fined at amounts ranging from 300 to 600 manat. -06B--
