Baku/18.05.22/Turan: On May 18, in Baku, the Prime Ministers of Azerbaijan and Belarus Ali Asadov and Roman Golovchenko discussed issues of further development of economic cooperation. The parties expressed satisfaction with the development of economic ties, despite the consequences of the pandemic, the press-service of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan. 

“Last year, the trade turnover between the countries amounted to $885.5 million,” the Belarusian agency Belta quoted Golovchenko as saying. The Belarusian prime minister proposed to organize the production of grain harvesters and other agricultural machinery, as well as electric buses, on the basis of the Ganja Automobile Plant with the participation of Belarusians.

He also spoke in favor of the growth of mutual imports and exports. "We are interested in the growth of supplies of dairy and meat products to Azerbaijan, and in the supply of Azerbaijani fruits and vegetables to Belarus," the prime minister said.

In 2021, the trade turnover between Belarus and Azerbaijan amounted to $885.5 million and grew 1.9 times over the years. The export of Belarus amounted to $478 million (an increase of 2.5 times). The main Belarusian exports to Azerbaijan are railway or tram cars, tractors, butter, medicines, furniture, turbojet and turboprop engines, gas turbines.

 Azerbaijan imported tomatoes, strong alcoholic drinks, cooked or canned fruits and nuts, fresh fruits, fruit and vegetable juices, meat and edible offal of poultry, potatoes, clays and other goods from Azerbaijan in 2021.

Azerbaijan has created 5 own commodity distribution network entities and 45 dealers representing more than 50 Belarusian enterprises. On the basis of the production association "Ganja Automobile Plant" there is a joint assembly production of tractor equipment.

Since 2017, the Trade House of Azerbaijan has been operating in Minsk, which has been granted preferential treatment for the supply of food products to the Belarusian market.-0-
