Azerbaijan Commemorates Victims of Ballygaya Massacre
Baku / 28.08.20 / Turan: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan issued a statement in connection with the 28th anniversary of the massacre in the village of Ballygaya, Geranboy region, committed by the armed forces of Armenia
On August 28, 1992, 24 civilians of Azerbaijan were brutally killed in the village of Balligaya.
Of these, 6 were minors, including a 6 month old child. A 93-year-old elderly woman was also the victim of a brutal crime. The bodies of some of the victims, mainly children, women and the elderly, were burned. As a result of the massacre, three minors lost both parents.
The Ballygaya massacre ranks among the series of massacres committed by the Armenian armed forces in the village of Garadaghly in the Khojavend region, in the city of Khojaly and in the village of Agdaban in the Kelbajar region with the aim of exterminating the Azerbaijani population of Karabakh, the Foreign Ministry said.
The document emphasizes that the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue to take the necessary steps, using all the possibilities provided for by national legislation and international law, to ensure an adequate legal assessment of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Armenian Armed Forces against the civilian population, and bring those responsible to justice.
