Azerbaijan ready to help Georgia in eliminating consequences of landslide in Shovi - Ceyhun Bayramov
Baku/04.08.23/Turan: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov today called his Georgian counterpart Ilya Darchiashvili due to the landslide near the resort of Shovi in the mountainous region of Racha.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's press service reports that Bayramov expressed deep condolences to the families and relatives of the victims of the landslide; to the Georgian government and friendly Georgian people, wished healing to the injured.
He stressed that Azerbaijan is always close to Georgia and is ready to provide any assistance in rescue measures and elimination of the consequences of the disaster.
Seven people were killed as a result of the landslide that occurred in the high mountain resort of Shovi on 3 August.
According to experts, five million cubic metres of solid mass descended on the resort. Bridges were destroyed and the road at the entrance to Shovi was damaged. In just two days, rescuers have managed to get 210 people out of the disaster zone. The search continues for 30 people who are in the disaster zone and are not in touch, Sputnik-Georgia reports.
Georgian authorities have declared 7 August the day of mourning. -06В-
