Azerbaijan ready to support Trans-Caspian gas pipeline
Baku/17.09.19/Turan: Azerbaijan is ready to participate in the transportation of Turkmen gas to Europe through its territory, Hikmet Hajiyev, head of the foreign policy department of the presidential administration of Azerbaijan, said on Tuesday at a seminar at the Center for Analysis of International Relations in Baku.
"Azerbaijan may be a transit country for Turkmen gas, but an exporter and an importer must make a decision for this," Hajiyev said.
Elnur Soltanov, deputy energy minister of the country attending the same event, confirmed that Baku"s position on the issue of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline has not changed. "
We are ready to help with the transit of Turkmen gas, if there is a corresponding proposal," he said.
It should be noted that the issue of building the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline along the bottom of the sea from Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan has been discussed for a long time. After the launch of the Southern Gas Corridor (TANAP + TAP), which will happen in the near future, Turkmen gas gets direct access to European markets. -02D-
