Azerbaijan to send additional volumes of gas to Europe
Baku/26.1023/Turan: Investments in renewable energy will allow Azerbaijan to save a large amount of natural gas, which is used in electricity production, stated by President Ilham Aliyev on October 26 at the opening ceremony of the Garadagh solar power plant with a capacity of 230 MW.
"These investments will allow us to save a large amount of natural gas, which we currently use for electricity generation. This is several billion cubic meters that will be saved for export. Because Azerbaijan's gas is needed by Europe more than ever in connection with the latest geopolitical changes," the head of state said.
He recalled that Azerbaijan once built a large transport infrastructure — 3,500 km of gas pipeline from offshore fields in the Caspian Sea to Europe. Therefore, additional gas will contribute to the energy security not only of Europe, but of the wider region, he noted. ----06B----
