Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry calls on to apply the same standards to the OSCE
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, speaking on December 4 at the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council, focused on the application of double standards in international politics that threatens the stability of the European space.
"Today, in the OSCE dominate issues of human rights and freedoms, which are often viewed through the prism of double standards," said the minister, urging the OSCE to avoid it.
According to him, common approach is needed, including in regional security, which are basic for conflict resolution. Mammadyarov gave the example of the Karabakh conflict, where, despite the four UN resolutions and decisions of the European institutions, continued occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia.
The Minister pointed to the recent military provocations of Armenia in the occupied territories in Karabakh, which led to an escalation of tensions in the region, and said that the OSCE Minsk Group expressed concern with these provocations. The presence of the Armenian armed forces in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan is the main fact of instability and conflict resolution.
In conclusion, Mammadyarov said that Azerbaijan is ready to participate constructively in the preparation of a large political agreement on the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, initiated by French President Francois Hollande during his meeting with the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Paris.-0-
