Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry expressed protest to France
Baku/16.11.22/Turan: Chargé d'Affaires of France in the Republic of Azerbaijan Julien Le Lan was summoned today to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan; he was presented a note of protest in connection with the Resolution against Azerbaijan adopted by the French Senate on November 15. It was brought to the attention that the resolution adopted by the French Senate, which contains completely untrue, false and slanderous provisions, was strongly rejected by Azerbaijan, the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
It was also noted that "the resolution is clearly provocative" and "France, claiming to contribute to the peace process, has once again clearly demonstrated its pro-Armenian, biased and one-sided position."
"This step by France is aimed at inflicting a serious blow on the establishment of peace in the region, especially on the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, based on mutual recognition and respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of each other's borders", the Azerbaijani Foreign Minitstry stressed. Moreover, the Senate resolution encourages revanchist forces opposed to peace in the region.
In addition to a gross violation of the norms and principles of international law, this resolution completely contradicts the obligations under Article 2, paragraph 3 of the "Treaty of Friendship, Mutual Understanding and Cooperation" (1993) between Azerbaijan and France.
At the meeting, the Azerbaijani side urged France to refrain from actions and statements against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, protected by international law and interference in its internal affairs.
Chargé d'affaires of France assured that he would convey the appeal of the Azerbaijani side to the government of his country. –06В-
