Azerbaijani-Russian Consultations on Caspian Sea Status
Baku on Monday hosted the next round of the Azerbaijani-Russian consultations on the Caspian Sea. The party delegations were headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov and special representative of Russian President for the demarcation and delimitation of borders with neighboring states-participants of the CIS, Ambassador at Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry Igor Bratchikov. The parties discussed the provisions of the draft convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, cooperation in the Caspian Sea, including the issues of cooperation in the field of security, and other issues of mutual interest. At the end of the meeting, they stressed the importance of bilateral consultations on the Caspian Sea and the need to continue such negotiations, according to the press release from the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. -06
