Baku and Tehran establish a joint military commission, Iranian Ambassador
Iran and Azerbaijan have agreed to establish a joint defense committee, said at a press conference on April 21, Iranian Ambassador to Baku ,Mohsen Pakayin. The agreement was reached on the results of the visit of the Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehgans to Baku. The Commission will head the Ministers of Defense of the two countries, he said. He added that the purpose of the commission will be a "joint work on security issues, including the border. The issues of military-technical cooperation will be considered," said the diplomat. In addition, the two countries agreed to jointly fight against religious radicalism, he said. Talking about other aspects of bilateral relations, the ambassador said that there had been an agreement on the construction of a new bridge between Iran and Azerbaijan in the city of Astara. "I think necessary steps will be soon taken in this direction," said the diplomat. The Astara railway project Qazvin-Rasht involves the construction of the territory of Iran a new railway line that will connect the Azerbaijani Astara to the Iranian city of Astara, Rasht and Qazvin. -02D-
