Baku expects the new government of Armenia to draw the right conclusions
Baku/21.06.21/Turan: Proceeding from norms and principles of international law, Azerbaijan stands for the restoration of relations with Armenia on the basis of principles of inviolability of borders and territorial integrity. That was stated today by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at a briefing following the talks with his Kazakh counterpart Mukhtar Tleuberdi.
Commenting on the results of the elections to the Armenian parliament, Bayramov stated: "Yesterday early parliamentary elections were held in Armenia, and a new government is expected to be formed. We believe that the Armenian authorities, having analyzed the causes of the crisis, will draw the right conclusions, " Bayramov said.
In his opinion, the reasons for the crisis are not caused by the defeat in the war but lie in the policy of aggression that Armenia has pursued for decades through violating international law, using force and changing the internationally recognized borders of states.
In keeping with norms and principles of international law, Azerbaijan, the Minister continued, supports the restoration of relations between the two states on the principles of inviolability of borders and territorial integrity. Now it's turn of Armenia to make its own decision, he added. However, he added, the implementation of some provisions of the trilateral statements is delayed.
"I informed my Kazakh counterpart about the need to return hundreds of thousands of internally displaced persons to their lands. We also discussed potential cooperation in this direction," he said.
Also, the Minister pointed out that Armenia did not provide all the minefield mapss. Since the signing of the trilateral declaration on November 10, 2020, 28 Azerbaijani citizens have been killed by a landmine and more than 120 injured. "Recently, Armenia, with the participation of international mediators, presented mine maps for Aghdam. Note that the number of mines in one region only is 97, 000. This in itself is an indicator of the level of mine danger, " Bayramov said. - 06D-
