Baku urges Paris to stop provocative statements
Baku/29.08.23/Turan: Unilateral statements by French Minister of European and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna are unacceptable, demonstrate a unilateral pro-Armenian position and do not serve peace and stability in the region, Ayhan Hajizade, the official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, said commenting on Colonna's speech to French ambassadors abroad.
In her speech, she accused Baku of a "strategy of strangling" Karabakh in order to provoke a "mass exodus of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh," calling such a policy illegal and immoral."
It was “illegal” and “immoral” how France turned a blind eye to the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia for 30 years, and ethnic cleansing, the expulsion of 1 million people from their places of residence, the destruction of cities and villages, the destruction of Azerbaijan's cultural and historical heritage, Hajizade said.
Azerbaijan seeks to reintegrate Armenians living in the Karabakh region into the political, social and economic spheres of the country. Therefore, it is completely wrong to hinder these efforts by declaring a “policy of expelling the Armenian population from the region.”
“We once again call on France to put an end to such provocative and inflammatory statements,” Hajizade summed up. --06B--
