Bayramov and Lavrov discuss the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia
Baku/12.05.22/Turan: On May 12, the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation - Jeyhun Bayramov and Sergey Lavrov had a meeting within the frameworks of the Council of Foreign MInisters of the CIS in Dushanbe.
According to the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, the parties exchanged views on the current situation in the region, confirmed the importance of implementing the signed tripartite statements (leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia) to ensure peace and security.
The importance of taking measures to normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia was noted. The parties also exchanged views on issues of the regional and international security agenda.
Today Lavrov held a similar meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
On May 12, a trilateral meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia is to be held there as well.—06B-

On December 18, the Baku Appeals Court rejected the appeal by economist and scholar Gubad Ibadoglu, challenging the decision to maintain his travel ban. Ibadoglu’s defense team had requested the lifting of the ban so that he could accept an invitation to attend the Sakharov Prize award ceremony at the European Parliament on December 17. Ibadoglu was one of the finalists for the prize, but the Narimanov District Court on December 3 had denied this request.
