Bayramov and Mora discussed the energy sector of the South Caucasus and Ukraine
Baku/17.03.22/Turan: Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met on Thursday with the Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs of the European External Action Service Enrique Mora.
"During the meeting, the parties discussed a new agreement between Azerbaijan and the European Union, which will form the legal basis for bilateral relations, and also talked about the prospects for cooperation in the political, economic, energy spheres," the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Bayramov noted that effective cooperation with the EU is carried out within the framework of various programs and projects, and it is of great importance for Baku. The European Union is one of the main trade partners of Azerbaijan.
The possibility of expanding the Southern Gas Corridor project was also pointed out.
Mora, for his part, noted that Azerbaijan is a very important partner for the EU. “There are strong partnerships between Azerbaijan and the EU, which have a very broad agenda covering the economy, technology and innovation, trade,” Mora stressed.
The European Union is interested in the stable and secure development of the region and is ready to support all steps in this direction and participate in regional cooperation efforts.
As Mora stressed, the EU has great potential for cooperation with Azerbaijan, including in the field of transport. He also noted the role of Azerbaijan in ensuring the energy security of Europe.
The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, regional and international security, as well as on the situation in Ukraine.—06B-
