Bayramov's meeting with Mirzoyan not held due to provocation by Armenian side - Foreign Ministry
Baku/04.12.21/Turan: A meeting between the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia within the framework of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Stockholm was not held due to the provocative trip of the Armenian MPs to Karabakh.
Leyla Abdullayeva, official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, said commenting on the reason for the meeting failure.
"As you know, the 28th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council was held on December 2-3 in Stockholm which was attended by the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister.
On the eve of the meeting, the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group proposed to hold a meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian Ministers in Stockholm.
Azerbaijan has always been a supporter of dialogue, and at previous meetings in New York, Minsk and Paris, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister voiced the country's position on the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations in the post-conflict period," Abdullayeva said.
However, a few hours before the December 3 meeting, there was a provocation from the Armenian side. In particular, there was an illegal visit of Armenian parliamentarians to the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In response to this provocation, the Azerbaijani side did not consider it appropriate to hold a ministerial meeting in Stockholm, Abdullayeva said.
Despite steps by Azerbaijan to normalise relations between the two countries, Armenia continues its military and political provocations. Armenia's position undermines peacemaking efforts in the region, the Azerbaijani diplomat summed up.-06D-
