Court of Appeal upholds Tale Bagirzade in custody
Baku Appeals Court today rejected the complaint of the theologian Tale Bagirzade against the decision of the Narimanov district court on July 26, because of the extension of the term of Bagirzade’s arrest for another 2 months, who was accused of illegal possession of drugs.
Protection considers the court decision unreasonable. The head of the Committee to Protect the rights of Bagirzade Mirgasim Aliyev told Turan, that the examination revealed no drug at Bagirzade, and did not find fingerprints of the theologian on the bag with drugs.
* Bagirzade was arrested on March 31, and he was charged under Article 234.1 (illegal possession of drugs.) The real reason for his arrest is his sermon placed on the Internet, where the theologian sharply criticized the government. –16D06-
