Deputy Foreign Minister of Germany meets with members of Azerbaijani civil society
Deputy Foreign Minister of Germany, Cornelia Pieper, met on Tuesday with Azerbaijan’s civil society and the media during her visit to Azerbaijan. The meeting was attended by the observer of the "Radio Azadlig”, Khadija Ismailova, head of the NGO "For Human Rights" Eynulla Fatullayev, head of Human Rights Club, Rasul Jafarov and chairman of the youth organization "For positive changes," Bakhtiyar Hajiyev. According to Rasul Jafarov, they discussed the situation of human rights and freedom of expression in Azerbaijan.
Civil society informed the German diplomat about problems with human rights, restrictions on freedom of assembly and expression, the press, and the prosecution of journalists and activists.
They also exchanged views on the possible assistance of Germany in the development of civil society in Azerbaijan.—06D-
