Egyptian President is given ultimatum
Egyptian protesters seized the headquarters of the ruling Movement in Egypt, "Muslim Brotherhood." First, the building was set on fire, and then it was pogrom, foreign media reported.
During the attack there were the movement members, because they were evacuated from the building in the morning on July 1 with a group of some people. Eyewitnesses reported that different things are being thrown from the windows of the headquarters, and furniture and household items are being taken out from the building.
According to Reuters, which refers to law enforcement sources, five people were killed during the storming of the building, and more than 100 people were injured.
The attack of the headquarters of "Muslim Brotherhood" lasted since Sunday, June 30. The protesters, mostly young people, threw stones and firebombs to the building. People inside the headquarters, including the guards fired on the attackers.
On Monday, July 1, the opposition Movement "Tamarrud" delivered an ultimatum to the Egyptian President Mohammed Mursi. It promised that if he does not leave his post until Tuesday evening, the protesters will organize civil disobedience, and will try to storm the presidential palace.
Mass anti-government protests took place on the eve of Sunday, June 30, in various Egyptian cities to mark the anniversary of the inauguration of President Mohammed Mursi. According to the agency, million people came to the streets in Cairo and Alexandria. The actions were recognized as the most numerous since 2011. In some cities, protesters clashed with supporters of Mursi. The exact number of victims of violence is unknown, according to various estimates, from five to 14 people died.
Opponents of Mohammed Mursi accuse him of excessive Islamisation of the country, and in an attempt to create an authoritarian regime in Egypt. The president has previously admitted that he had committed a number of errors, but refused to resign. -02D-
