On the island of Margarita in Venezuela opened XVII Summit of Heads of State or Government of NAM member countries, which is held under the motto "Peace in the name of development, sovereignty and solidarity."
At the summit, Azerbaijan is represented by a delegation headed by Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
According to the Foreign Ministry spokesman Hikmet Hajiyev, on September 16 there will be a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement. On September 17 the Summit of Heads of State and Government will be held.
The summit is expected to adopt a decision on the transition of the presidency of the Movement in 2019-2022 to Azerbaijan and on the holding of the 18th Summit in Baku in 2019.
The Non-Aligned Movement includes 118 countries that do not participate in military blocs. It was established by 25 states in Belgrade in 1961. -05D06--

On January 15, the Tbilisi Court of Appeals rejected the appeal of Afghan Sadigov, the founder of the Azel TV website, who had protested his extradition to Azerbaijan. Sadigov’s wife, Sevinj Sadigova, stated that this was the final judicial instance in Georgia making a decision on the case, Turan reported. On January 15, the Yasamal District Court rejected the motion to change the detention measure for Azer Gasymly, the director of the Institute of Political Management, his lawyer, Agyl Laidj, to Turan. "Azer Gasymly stated during the trial that the charges against him were fabricated and related to his socio-political activities," the lawyer said. An appeal will be filed against the court's decision.
