Erdogan said there is no obstacle for the "Turkish Stream"

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the Turkish authorities are ready to "immediately take steps" towards the realization of "Turkish stream". Negotiations on the project was suspended after the cooling of relations between Moscow and Ankara because of the downed Su-24.

The Turkish authorities are ready to take the necessary steps to start the project of construction of gas pipeline "Turkish Stream", which could supplied Russian gas to the country.

"We are ready immediately to take steps towards the realization of this project, discuss it, and make a decision. There are no obstacles to this is no," said the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan in an interview with Tass on the eve of his visit to Russia. Erdogan reminded that Russia is the largest supplier of gas to Turkey.

" For the end of July 2016, the volume of natural gas imported from Russia amounted to 12.5 billion cubic meters. This shows how important economic partner in this area is Turkey," said the Turkish President.

For the end of July 2016, Vice-Premier of the Russian Government Arkady Dvorkovich after talks with Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Shimshek said that the Turkish authorities are ready to resume the dialogue with Russia on the construction of "Turkish stream". According to Dvorkovich, the project is at an early stage, but with  the goodwill of the parties  is possible to advance quickly.

Later, the deputy chairman of "Gazprom" Alexander Medvedev said that the terms of the  construction of  the "Turkish stream" will be discussed in detail at the meeting between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Erdogan scheduled for August 9, 2016.

In early August, the Turkish Ambassador to Russia Umit Yardym expressed doubt thatw it will be possible to  sign  an intergovernmental agreement on the construction of "Turkish Stream" in the near future.

"The talks  are ongoing, but  yet we are far from the signing of the intergovernmental agreement," said Yardym, noting that the construction of the pipeline should take into account the interests of other countries.

Turkey is  the second-largest sales market of "Gazprom" after Germany. Russian gas supplies are carried out to Turkey by  the bottom  of the Black Sea through  the  gas pipeline "Blue Stream" and the Trans-Balkan pipeline. In 2015, "Gazprom" delivered to Turkey 27.01 billion cubic meters of gas, which has become a major buyer of the state company Botas. The total volume  of gas delivered in 1987-2015 years to Turkey amounted to more than 391 billion cubic meters. -02D-
