EU activity in South Caucasus is transparent – T. Klaar
Baku/15.06.23/Turan: "The European Union has been and will remain completely transparent in its activities for the sake of peace in the South Caucasus." This was announced on his Twitter account by the EU Special Representative for Crisis in South Caucasus and Georgia Toivo Klaar.
"We will continue to work for the benefit of people," he said, reposting the message of the EU Delegation to Armenia regarding the activities of the EU monitoring mission, which states:
"From the very beginning, the European monitoring mission is absolutely transparent about its work plan with 6 operational centers with a maximum staff of 103 people. We aim to achieve full operability of our activity in the nearest future. This is an unarmed civilian mission launched in response to a request from the Armenian government."
Note that 3 operational centers of the EU observer mission have already been opened in Armenia.
The other day, the head of the mission announced that in the coming months it is planned to open three more operational centers for monitoring the border with Azerbaijan.
Judging by the tweets of Klaar and the EU delegation to Armenia, the monitoring mission initially planned to open 6 operational centers.
This reminder obviously appeared after the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova 14 June reacted negatively to the message about the increase in the number of operational centers of the EU monitoring mission in Armenia.
In her view, "the true background of the EU policy in the South Caucasus is the squeezing of Russia out of Transcaucasia, turning the region into an arena of geopolitical confrontation." -16B-
