Europe Day under colours of Ukrainian flag
Baku/13.05.22/Turan: A new partnership agreement between the European Union and Azerbaijan will bring relations to a new level. This was stated by the head of the EU mission in Baku, Peter Mikhalko when speaking at the Europe Day ceremony on Thursday.
Today, the EU countries are represented in Azerbaijan by numerous companies which are engaged in a large number of strategic infrastructure and other economic projects, he added.
At that, the EU assists Azerbaijan in the restoration of liberated territories and mine clearance operations. At the same time, the EU leadership pursues an active peacekeeping policy to restore peace and stability in the region. Suffice it to mention the initiatives of the head of the European Council, Charles Michel to organize meetings between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia, the diplomat said.
The European Union is grateful to Azerbaijan for supporting the people of Ukraine in resisting "Russian aggression" and is appreciative for its steps to ensure energy security in Europe through the Southern Gas Corridor, Mikhalko said. He emphasized the active support of the Europeans for the rightful cause of Ukraine to defend its sovereignty.
Also, the EU intends to cooperate with Azerbaijani civil society and develop contacts between ordinary citizens in culture, education and health care. He concluded by wishing success and prosperity to the people of Azerbaijan.
It ought to be noted that many of the European diplomats attending the ceremony wore badges with the Ukrainian flag on their chests and many of the spouses of European ambassadors wore blue dresses and yellow scarves - the colours of the Ukrainian national flag.-02B-
