Ex-President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan May Be Arrested Again
Baku / 16.11.18 / Turan: On the evening of November 15, the Armenian Court of Cassation annulled the decision of the Appeal Court, which released the ex-President Robert Kocharyan from arrest, and sent the case to the same court for a new trial.
As reported by Armenian media, Kocharyan was present at the trial, but when announcing the verdict, he left the hall. The Deputy Prosecutor General of Armenia was present at the hearing, and the meeting itself was closed.
The Armenian Prosecutor"s Office believes that Kocharyan should be under arrest not only because he is not immune, but also because there are other grounds for arrest.
Former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, who is accused of overthrowing the constitutional order in the case of the events of March 1, 2008, remains free.
On July 27, the court arrested Kocharyan for two months. However, on August 13, the Court of Appeal overturned this decision, taking as a basis the right to immunity given by the Constitution. -02D-
