Media Review November 16, 2018
Traditions of tolerance in Azerbaijan, amendments to a number of draft laws, and the appeal of martyrs' families to MPs are the leading topics of today's press.
The newspaper Azerbaijan writes about traditional tolerance, calling it "the Azerbaijani model". The author recalls that November 16 is celebrated as the International Day for Tolerance.
The article says that not everyone respects the culture and traditions of the peoples living nearby, but in Azerbaijan the situation is different. It happened so historically, and in the present time this tradition has deepened even more.
The website Strateq.az cites the opinion of the MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev on the amendments to the laws "On the status of the MP", "On the rules of ethical behavior of the member of the Milli Majlis", and "On the internal charter of the Milli Majlis". The deputy claims that the changes contradict the spirit of the Constitution and gives specific examples. Especially, Hasanguliyev singles out a clause on deprivation of an MP"s mandate.
The website Oxu az refers to the situation with the families of martyrs who cannot receive the money owed to them for a family member who is dead or missing. The sum is 11 thousand manat.
On November 15, the families of martyrs again gathered in front of the Milli Majlis, demanding that the government resolve this issue.
